 We are thankful that your journey has led you to Sankofa Apothecary. We believe there is a reason you've found us. Sankofa Apothecary is a family business located in Greenwood, SC. Our family welcomes you to join us on our journey to better overall skin health and healing! We started out as small batch, handmade, cold process soap makers and gradually increased our product line to include body butters, bath bombs and other bath & beauty products that are eco-friendly, cruelty-free and plant based.

 Why We Do, What We Do: Several family members experienced years of chronic skin rashes, dry, itchy skin and eczema. We began looking at the soaps and skin care products we were purchasing from the store. As we analyzed labels, we became very concerned about the harsh chemicals and unknown ingredients present in these products and what the adverse effects of these chemicals had on us, our children and our planet. It was then we decided we had to switch to more natural, organic products for all our health.

 We made it our mission to learn all we could and started making our own all natural products made with organic oils. Soon friends and coworkers heard what we were doing, saw positive results in our use of the products and began requesting samples for themselves and their families as well. It was then we decided we wanted to share our products so everyone could enjoy natural organic soap, without artificial ingredients, and we haven’t looked back!

 We steer away from ingredients such as synthetic fragrances, dyes or SLS. Where possible, organically grown products are used. Our products are scented with 100% natural essential oils and colored with organic herbs, clays, botanicals and plant extracts. The base recipe of our soaps contain conventional and certified organic oils. Our products contain no parabens, phthalates, sulfates or ingredients you can’t pronounce!
